Singapore

Why Singapore?

In March 2019, I was about to complete my 3rd year of engineering at BITS Pilani, Goa. The summer break before final year is when most BITSians have the freedom to choose what they want to do before their final year internship.

I ended up applying and getting accepted into Corporate Gurukul's Global Academic Internship Program (GAIP) at National University of Singapore. This meant I would be spending my summer in what I now can easily call, the world's best city to be in.

Flying In

Since our program was only a month long, we didn't need to apply for an education Visa. Tourist Visa's in Singapore allow you to stay for a period of 1 month which meant it would be enough. In India, registered travel agents are the only people authorized to apply for the Visa. I used Thomas Cook in Pune as my agent. You can check out the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Singapore's website for latest information on registered travel agents.

Since Pune-Singapore had no direct flights, I ended up travelling via Mumbai International Airport. Anyone who's travelled from Mumbai will know that travel via Mumbai is mostly hassle-free and a photographer's best friend.
